Nature, in its most abstract form, unfolds before us like a blank canvas filled with infinite possibilities.

With this project we seek contact with an unknown nature, since we must create with what no longer grows. Which produces in the person, at the end of the activity, a feeling of well-being, joy and hope.

During the last week of April, Cal Gras, a residency for artists with mental disorders located in Avinyó, welcomed us to participate in the 13th edition of the project for Mental Health entities in Catalonia, “Natura és Cultura“.

A project directed by the artist Quim Moya and other collaborations such as the forestry engineer Ignasi Vilarasau, the psychologist and dancer Maria Ribera and the Fundació Setba.

We got to know part of the balanced nature that surrounds us and different trees that we live with in Catalonia.

“Every leaf that falls in autumn reminds us of the ephemerality of life, while the explosion of colors in a spring field instills hope and renewal in us.”

We painted slices of tree trunk, with the purpose of expressing in an image what had been written in the letter that we sent to the 4th year ESO students who were also participating in this project, but from another point.

Nature invites us to reflect on our role in the world and marvel at its existence, a front-row spectacle.

So we looked for the part of the tree that could balance alone.

How?

With 3 suspension points. A difficult task since each tree, like people, is different.

We have created unique sculptures using fallen tree trunks.
Well, two large pieces remain in balance just by touching each other.

These sculptures are true works of art that highlight the natural beauty of wood and its environment. Each piece is unique in its shape and design, capturing the essence of the tree that once was. The process of creating these sculptures is a combination of artistic skill and respect for nature, transforming a lifeless log into a work that inspires admiration and connection to the earth.

Each sculpture tells a story and transmits the peace and harmony that only nature can offer…
