For another year the SRC-GRÀCIA Summer Programme has been a complete success, with many activities, outings, dances, talks…
So, we weren’t bored!!
It all started when we designed a personalized tote bag, drawings, colors, shapes of all kinds came out. Success and fun were guaranteed. Even some people didn’t think they could do it and came away with a smile from ear to ear when they saw their creation.
A couple of days later, the users who participate in the Urban Garden activity that we do on Wednesdays at the JIWAR garden (c/Jaén – Gràcia), jointly organized the fellowship meal that we do every year at the end of the school year.
After a first week of adjusting to the changes in schedules and activities, we relaxed by enjoying an outing to the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site. We were given a guided tour and were told the history of this site; it was built between 1905 and 1930, designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner and conceived as a garden city for the care of the sick.
Recycling is an essential practice for environmental sustainability, and in a recent lecture given by Jordi Monjo, its importance is highlighted clearly and convincingly. Monjo, an expert in waste management and sustainability, will explain how recycling not only helps reduce the amount of waste that ends up at waste disposal, but also conserves natural resources, saves energy and reduces pollution.
Another cultural outing was to Casa Vicens, the first major project that Antonio Gaudí undertook between 1883 and 1888.
Located in the Gràcia district, this masterpiece of Catalan modernism stands out for its innovative use of materials and its exquisite ornamentation.
Casa Vicens is a reflection of Gaudí’s creative genius, combining oriental and Mediterranean influences with great attention to detail.
As we have recently worked on different painting styles in the Creative Space activity, we took the opportunity to go to the Picasso Museum to see his works up close.
During the visit, we were able to appreciate the different artistic stages that Picasso went through, from the blue period to cubism.
Each painting told a unique story and offered a different perspective of the artist.
And to withstand the heat, we went to cool off at the Can Dragó pool. Enjoying another year of the day among professionals and users. Around the pool, the trees provided shade, and the aroma of chlorine mixed with that of the sandwiches and drinks we brought to share. The Can Dragó pool was not only a place to cool off, but also a space where friendships were forged and community ties were strengthened.
Our professionals set up an Escape Room for them inside the centre and it was an amazing experience to see how the story developed and how they continued to solve the puzzles until they reached the end.
It was fascinating to see how each participant immersed themselves in the narrative, contributing with ideas and creative solutions.
Below are some highlights of the experience:
– Teamwork: Participants bonded quickly, each bringing their unique skills to bear in deciphering clues and overcoming challenges.
– Creativity in action: The Escape Room setting stimulated the imagination, allowing players to feel like they were part of an exciting story.
– Conflict resolution: They faced a series of puzzles that required critical thinking and logic, which fostered an environment of collaboration and learning.
– Positive feedback: At the end, many expressed their desire to repeat the experience, highlighting how enriching it was to participate in this activity.
We will have the opportunity to visit the Monestir de Pedralbes. It will be founded by Queen Elisenda de Montcada in 1327 with the support of her husband, King Jaume II, who will make the church dedicated to Saint Mary. In short, the visit to the Monestir de Pedralbes will be an enriching experience that will allow you to connect with the history of Catalonia and reflect on the lives of the monks who live in this sacred lloc. Sens dubte, a lloc that deserves to be explored and benvolgut by the beauty and cultural significance.
In one of the most recent activities of the Summer Program, we will have the pleasure of sharing with the collaboration of Pepe Amilibia, member of the rock band @taxidermistas. It will offer a highly interesting Percussion Workshop, full of sounds, stories and emotions that we do not expect to discover through music. The participants will let themselves follow Pepe’s rhythm and energy. He will also share anecdotes from his six tours and experiences with the band, creating an atmosphere of company and learning. At the end of the workshop, everyone feels more connected not only to the music, but also to each other.
We also remember with great affect the Sewing Monograph that one of our users is going to prepare. Thanks to her, I will learn to create purses using them and agulla!
It will teach you not only basic techniques, but also advanced tricks to personalize our designs. The session was full of color and creativity, and at the end, everyone had a nice purse for me, full of records and shared effort.
Additionally, these types of workshops foster unity and partnership among participants. They believe special relationships and share experiences that enrich our lives. The dedication and talent of our users ensure that these activities remain indispensable and motivate us to continue learning and believing together. We look forward to the next workshop!
To finish this complete summer program, we repeat every year, our participation in the Plaça del Nord for the Festes de Gràcia. We are going to organize a xapes workshop, so that the smallest ones can express their creativity and import an original record of these festivities.
This time, we dedicated a motto to the activity, “Give me the sheet”. Quan is a speaker of Mental Health, donating xapa is not a negative thing, on the contrary; I’m here to escort you.
Our intention is to foster a culture of openness and support, with each person being escorted and valued.
Mental health is a crucial issue that affects all people, regardless of age or situation. For now, it is important that we speak without taboos.
In donating the xapa, don’t just talk; We are creating a support system that can make a big difference in children’s lives.
Remember that you are not alone. Every time you decide to share, you are contributing to destigmatizing the topic and building a healthier environment for everyone.
In the end, our goal is that everyone feels comfortable and empowered to talk about their mental health, so that every story matters and every story counts. Join us and “Give me the sheet”!!
